About Us
MyShake has been created by the Seismology Lab at the University of California, Berkeley and is backed by the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services. The lab is dedicated to conducting vital research on earthquakes and related earth processes, while also gathering and sharing high-quality geophysical data.

Earthquake Early Warning
In California, Oregon, and Washington, gain access to crucial early warning alerts that could save lives. MyShake employs the USGS ShakeAlert system, which warns you of earthquakes measuring 4.5 or higher seconds before shaking begins.

Earthquake Map
Explore a comprehensive map that displays earthquakes globally, complete with detailed data on their magnitude, location, and depth. You can share your personal earthquake experiences and check out community reports regarding shaking and damage.

Earthquake Notification
Remain updated with real-time earthquake notifications sent directly to your device. You have the freedom to choose your areas of interest and the magnitude of earthquakes you'd like alerts for, ensuring you won't miss any quake larger than 3.5!

Smartphone-Based Global Seismic Network
Join a worldwide seismic network powered by smartphones. As part of this research initiative, your device acts as a mini-seismometer, helping to detect earthquakes wherever you might be. This citizen-science approach can lead to early warning signals for earthquakes across the globe, even in regions without traditional seismic infrastructure!

Earthquake Safety
Access valuable safety tips for preparing for earthquakes, including how to secure movable items and develop a disaster readiness plan. Understand the appropriate actions to take during an earthquake and familiarize yourself with the Drop, Cover, and Hold On techniques.
